Born in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1945, Wenders holds a pivotal place in the world of film. His works have won numerous awards at world-class film festivals such as those at Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, and are representative of the “New German Film Movement” of the 1970s. In the 1970s, Wenders was inspired by American road movies of the time, and he also loved Western movies in his youth. He began to film his own European-style road movies. His famous films include Paris, Texas, The American Friend, Wings of Desire, and Until the End of the World.
Wenders China Tour - Photography Creation
From May 22 to June 5, 2019, the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation planned and cooperated with professional organizations throughout China to host the Wenders China Tour. Wim Wenders and Mrs. Donata Wenders will visit Dunhuang, Chengdu, Bishan, and Shanghai to create a series of photographic works—”New Urban of China”: a picture of the changing times of the urban era and portraits of people at work. The resulting photographic work will be shown in cooperation with professional organizations around the world and China in the near future.
