Ragdale lets artists focus on what’s most important: creating new work.

Overview Solo / Small Group Residencies: Creative professionals of all types are eligible for 18- and 25-day residencies. Applications are juried annually by the Ragdale Curatorial Board.
Themed Residencies: Creative professionals of all types working collaboratively are eligible for 5-7 day residencies for groups of 5-13 artists.

Ragdale encourages artists of all backgrounds to apply, and does not discriminate against anyone on the basis of age, disability, gender, origin, race, religion, or sexual orientation. The most an artist may attend a residency is every-other year.

Application Requirements 
Please note the following requirements to complete your application:
1) A completed online application form. Apply for each opportunity you would like to be considered for.
2) A nonrefundable processing fee of $25 (U.S.). You may pay the fee by debit or credit card through a secure site on the online application.
3) Two current letters (i.e. within the last two years) of reference OR surveys** completed by people who know you personally and can address your professional capacity and suitability for a residency in a working community with other artists.
4) A one-page artist’s statement and work plan explaining your work and what you plan to do while in residence.
5) A one-page CV or resumé that summarizes your professional background.
6) Work samples that show previous work from the past 2-3 years. All media is acceptable.

Facilities and Grants 
Each session, 13 artists-in-residence experience uninterrupted time for dedicated work on a 5-acre historic campus beside a beautiful 50-acre prairie, 30 miles north of Chicago. With live/work studios, all meals provided, and unmatched staff support.
