Theatre | The Premiere of Nine and A Half Love, directed by Meng Jinghui (2018)

Based on a true revenge story in Southern China, this play draws on influences from a  variety of sources such as Homer’s epics, Greek tragedy, Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra, the memories of Duchamp, Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Blind Chance, and others. Here, montaged narration mixes poetry, myth, allegory, and classical works of literature together. As the story unfolds through different literary forms, different spaces and times are used to explore the story’s complexity.
