Revelations China: The Public Welfare Special Exhibition is Coming Soon | BCAF China New Folk Crafts

The China International Biennial of Crafts and Creation (REVELATIONS CHINA) is one of the eight key high-quality cultural exchange projects of the 2024 China-France Culture and Tourism Year, and is included in the framework of the ‘China-France Cultural Spring - Special Presentation of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and France’. The first China International Craft Innovation Expo will be held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Hall from 20 to 23 September 2024.

This year's expo will feature more than 550 works of art by 126 artists from 16 countries and regions. The works will cover a variety of materials and techniques, including bamboo, ceramics, lacquer, metal, and fibre.

BCAF is the public welfare partner of REVELATIONS CHINA. We launched the 'Use What You Have' campaign. In May, we launched the 'Enduring Vitality' public welfare exhibition with the French Art Union and Beijing Design Week. Three groups of artists and public welfare organisations were selected for this special exhibition: Tong Xindi & Shen Ting, naze naze, and oame.

Tong Xindi & Shen Ting

Tong Xindi & Shen Ting are an artist duo graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a major in fine arts and from the China Academy of Art with a major in ceramic art and design. They combine traditional ceramic craftsmanship with computer technology. They use self-made machinery and computer programming to turn mathematical algorithms into traditional ceramic materials. This shows how nature creates. The glaze in their work has a rhythm and flow that looks like a language with strength and vitality. Their work has been praised by the ceramic art community at home and abroad for its unique craftsmanship and expression. The V&A Museum, the world's largest museum of arts and crafts, collected them.

naze naze understands the community and uses this to inform their working methods and designs. Each Slow Weaving project starts with local textiles and life. It then gives back to the community.
