Summer for Children from the Greater South Slope|BCAF Art for Social Welfare

In the summer of 2024,
let's take a look at the rich summer lives of the children on the Dananpo!

First stop
Dananpo: Return visit and aesthetic education in practice

In the summer of 2021, the disaster caused by the torrential rain in Henan Province touched everyone's heart. Xiuwu County has experienced continuous heavy rain and extreme rainstorms, and all rivers have exceeded the warning water level, all reservoirs have exceeded the flood limit water level, and there have been many dangerous situations. After learning about the disaster situation in Dananpo, MUJI, in order to help the residents resume normal life as soon as possible and enable children to continue to receive education in a safe education in a safe teaching environment, MUJI immediately joined hands with BCAF to help with the post-disaster restoration of Dananpo Village in Xiuwu County, Henan Province. MUJI and its employees made a targeted donation to Dananpo Village, and the funds were used to restore the village's water supply system, restore normal water use for residents, and repair the learning roof and build a new color steel shed.

In June 2024, MUJI's partners went to Dananpo Village, Xiuwu County, Jiaozuo City for a field visit, and brought the children of Dananpo Primary School an aesthetic education practice activity based on the concept of ‘sustainable living’. The MUJI volunteers used jute bags from stock and acrylic paints to engage in a free-themed jute bag painting activity with the children.

Second stop
Sustainable Living Summer Camp

In 2024, as the importance of sustainable lifestyles becomes increasingly prominent, we hope to lead the students of the Greater South Slope, who are about to enter the graduation season, on a humanities and art journey to Shanghai with the theme of the concept of ‘sustainable living’. With the support of MUJI, BCAF will take the children to visit sustainable farms and sustainable concept stores to learn about the necessity and importance of sustainable concepts in people's lives. At the same time, the children will also experience a variety of sustainable themed aesthetic education practices in humanistic and artistic spaces such as the Shanghai Glass Museum, the Power Station of Art (PSA), and the naze naze textile studio.

naze naze Recycled wool handicraft workshop

naze naze Textile Studio originated from the naze naze Dulongjiang Township Weaving Project initiated by BCAF and klee klee. It uses handmade textiles to tell the story of the weavers and enhance the connection between people. During the process of hand weaving, naze naze also faces and pays attention to the issue of recycling and reusing materials. The surplus wool from the weaving process is kept and, with the creator's clever hands and ideas, it is transformed into brand new handicrafts.

This time, we will visit the naze naze recycled wool handicraft workshop in Shangsheng Xinsuo. Under the guidance of the workshop teacher, children will use their imagination to turn waste into treasure and make small pom-pom ornaments from recycled surplus wool.

In the summer of 2024, let's explore and discover from the perspective of the children!
